De Dust 2: CS2 and CS:GO Lingo Translate to Everyone with a hint of strats

If you're new to Counter-Strike or a seasoned player looking for a clear breakdown of the famous De Dust 2 map, this guide will help you translate in-game terms into general language, focusing on key strategies. Whether you're learning CS2 or still in the CS:GO mindset, understanding these common callouts and techniques can give you an edge.

Boost Spot on Top of Boxes at Long Doors

In both CS2 and CS:GO, boosting involves getting on top of your teammate to reach higher ground. At Long Doors, there's a prime spot where players can boost each other onto the boxes to gain a height advantage, helping you peek toward A site or hold long from an unexpected angle.

What is Catwalk?
Catwalk, commonly called "Cat," is the elevated path on the left side of mid that leads up to the A site. Controlling Cat can be crucial for the Terrorists to execute A pushes or for Counter-Terrorists to retake the site.

Upper Tunnels (UT) vs. Lower Tunnels (LT)
Upper Tunnels (UT): The part of the tunnel system that connects to the B site. Lower Tunnels (LT): Located closer to mid, LT connects to UT but also allows access toward mid or back to T spawn. Knowing how to move between LT and UT is essential for map control.

How many cars are there on the map ?
There are a few iconic cars on De Dust 2 that provide both cover and strategic positions:
There is a car exactly outside long doors parallel to mid and is a good spot to hide behind to catch enemies off-guard.

There is also a truck outside mid doors from the ct side usually used to just lineup some nade throws but nothing more.

there are 2 cars on spawn, one is directly at spawn near some boxes and it is good to catch an off angle if you hold above it, but it is rarely used due to it being difficult to infiltrate the spawn from ct, however even if you reach there it wouldn't make sense for the ts to rotate back to you unless there is alot of pressure at long doors.

the car next to it having its vision to tunnel is also a good spot to cheese your enemy from.

then to the most used car spots is the one near a site that if used correctly can give you good cover as well as allows you to peek short, watch mid, and watch for a long push, but this spot is a very highly naded spot so make sure to have 3 team mates baiting from long and site or you are guaranteed to get mollied and naded.

Finally the car spot at b site, it is a very annoying spot as some bullets hit the car most of the time and there is a gap that allows you to catch the cts pushing b and a more annoying spot is some type of a box behind it that give you complete cover from b doors and can be really good in post plant scenarios but yet again you have to beware of nades.

So in total you could say 6 vehicles on dust 2 to play around with and 1 more that we havn’t covered because its not a spot that players can play on the map but just as a decoration outside the map.

Molly Long Doors as a CT
To safely Molotov the Long Doors without exposing yourself to the enemy, aim at the pole nearby, run + jump once you spot the door on the wall to your right and the molotov will bounce off the pole. This keeps you hidden while disrupting any enemy rush towards A long.
New CS2 (short boxes)
In CS2, there's a new spot known as ( short boxes ) prior to this you would need a team mate to boost you short to get an advantage and push the ts or get an early angle to stop pushes but now you can simply do it yourself and push short like a pro.
Xbox and the Importance of the Smoke
Smoking Xbox is essential when you want to cross mid as a T. It prevents enemy awpers from holding mid and picking off players crossing toward Cat or B. To throw the Xbox smoke, stand near the T spawn on this corner
Aim towards this spot on the roof then jump throw
Now you can safely push through short without getting sniped!
Smoking B Doors as a Fake from Long
One advanced tactic is to fake a B push by throwing a smoke at B Doors while your team can do a contact a push, (contact in cs terms means that you go slowly into a site without making noise and the moment you spot an enemy or get spotted you make a rush for it). This can confuse the enemy and force rotations, giving your team a better chance at taking A.

Stand in this corner
Aim right here next to the lamp
The results:
Pop Flashes for Map Control
Pop flashes are flashes thrown to catch enemies off guard. For example, you can throw a pop flash by aiming at the stairs moving up short to a site, run throw it and peek your enemy, you may get partially blind, but if they are looking at you, they get full blinded giving you an advantage.

Aim at the middle of the stairs
Run and let go of the right click
Now you have a cheesy pop flash

Finally lets end it with a one way smoke ( one way smokes are smokes that give you an edge by seeing the enemy without them seeing you, usually by spotting their legs from underneath the smoke while their heads are hidden from the smoke making you not visible to them) here is an example of a one way smoke to surprise an enemy push from long door.

Get into this corner on a site
Aim right here in the middle hold and release your right click
Now you can see your enemy by standing on top of the box and they can’t see you

General glossary for dust 2 to translate most the calls for your information below:
A Short This is the walkway connecting mid to the A bombsite. It's often used by Ts for quick eco or pistol rounds, or as part of an A split strategy where some players hit A from long while others pinch from short.

T Spawn
This is the area where the Ts start each round. From a small section of T spawn at suicide, you can spot mid and check if any CTs cross over to B, which helps you guess their setup.

T Ramp
Leading down from T spawn to the area outside B Tunnels, this ramp is specifically the lower part of the path, and shouldn't be confused with T Plat, which is the raised part before the tunnels.

T Plat
The elevated section right outside B Tunnels, where you'll find some brick stacks to use for cover. It's a good vantage point to keep an eye on the tunnels while staying hidden. T Plat also borders T Ramp.

Outside Tunnels
This broad, open space just outside of B Tunnels. It covers a fair amount of ground and is a common spot to regroup before entering tunnels.

Upper B Tunnels (UT)
The first section of B Tunnels that extends from T spawn all the way to the chokepoint that leads into the B bombsite. If you control upper tunnels, you’re closer to a B execute.

Lower B Tunnels (LT)
The second section of the B Tunnels, starting from the stairs that go down from upper tunnels into the corridor that connects to mid. You’ll end up in mid through the archway, so this spot is a key rotation path.

Close
When exiting B Tunnels as a T, this is the corner immediately to your left. If unchecked, it's an angle that CTs love to use to surprise you, and it can easily turn into a death trap.

B Closet
Right next to the car on B site, this corner is a strong hold point. If a CT is hiding here, they can peek both tunnels and B doors, so always clear it when entering.

B Car
The car located to the right of the tunnel exit and to the left of B doors. This spot is used if a player is right behind the car itself, but if they're closer to the corner next to the car, that’s called Closet.

Fence
This is the fenced area on B Site when u enter from tunnel a bit forward to the right and its a spot that hides players until Ts have fully entered the site. It’s a sneaky spot that’s great for ambush.

B Plat
The elevated section on B site, near where you usually plant the bomb. It’s directly opposite the tunnel exit, and controlling this space makes it easier to defend the bomb.

Back Plat
The far end of B Plat, tucked away so that it’s hard to spot unless you push into the site. If a CT is hiding here, it can be a deadly surprise during a retake.

Big Box
This big box on B site resembles the Xbox in mid. It sits between B Plat and the bombsite and can be used to block or peek enemies.

B Default Plant
The spot on B where the bomb is most commonly planted. It’s right below B Window, on the side closest to B Doors. This location gives you the most visibility for post-plant play.

B Window
A raised hole in the wall at the B bombsite, accessible by climbing the nearby boxes. It’s a key position for defending or retaking B site, as it offers sightlines into the entire bombsite.

B Back Site
This is the back section of the B bombsite, located behind the boxes near B Plat. When CTs hold this position, they have the advantage of surprise, as it’s hard for Ts to check every corner.

B Doors
The double doors that connect B site with CT Mid. Ts will usually try to smoke or flash this area to push B safely, and CTs often use it for retakes.

B Boxes
The boxes outside B Doors, next to CT Mid. CTs use these as a high ground to watch players pushing from mid to B.

Scaffolding
The scaffold (building materials) just outside B, located near B Window. Standing on it gives you an advantageous angle to watch mid-to-B pushes.

CT Mid
The area between B Site, Mid, and CT Spawn. It’s right behind mid doors and plays a pivotal role in rotations for the CTs.

Mid Doors
The iconic double doors in Mid that connect the two halves of the map. Players often fight over control of this area, especially for mid-to-B plays.

Close Mid Doors
This refers to the small corner to the right of Mid Doors, often used as a sneaky spot for CTs. Some players call it "Hiko," after a legendary shot by the pro player from that position.

Xbox
The box in Mid by the doors, used to jump up to Catwalk. It’s a key piece of utility for Ts who want to get from mid to short without taking heavy fire from mid.

Mid
This is the sloping central area of De Dust 2 that runs from mid doors up to T Spawn. Control of mid is crucial for both teams to rotate between sites.

Palm
Once a palm tree in CSGO, now a telephone mast in CS2, this is the pole near the top of mid, close to Catwalk. It’s a landmark for players to orient their pushes.

Right Side Mid
The indent on the right side of Mid as viewed from Mid Doors, often used by CTs to peek or hold angles.

Top Mid
The upper section of Mid, close to T Spawn. It connects Suicide with the main area of Mid.

Suicide
This pit-like section allows Ts to drop from T Spawn into Mid quickly, but it’s risky due to CT AWPers who often watch mid doors for easy kills.

Outside Long
The open space on the T side of Long Doors. It’s a broad area that connects T spawn to Long Doors, often a staging ground for long pushes.

Long Doors
The double doors separating Outside Long and A Long. Ts often fight for control here early in the round.

Blue box
The large blue shipping crate opposite Long Doors. CTs love to hold this spot to slow down long pushes.

Side Pit
The area between Pit and A Long Doors. It’s not as deep as Pit itself and is often a quick step in the Ts’ journey to A.

Pit
You need to always care if a ct has snuck up here if pushing as a t, also this spot is a great area for post plant as an awper while you plant the c4 for long, you get plenty of room to play around it, this spot is just outside of Long Doors.

Pit Plat
A platform on the right side of Pit that offers a nice sniping angle toward A site or players pushing from long.

A Long
The long stretch between Long Doors and A Site. It’s a key route for Ts pushing A, but it’s exposed to utility and long-range fights.

Long Corner
The corner just outside Long Doors, where CTs often hold an angle to contest long pushes.

A Car
A defensive spot near A Long that lets players peek toward Short, Mid, or hold A Long. But beware, it’s often heavily mollied by Ts trying to clear the area.

A Cross
The wide, exposed area between A Long and A Site. It’s called the cross because Ts have to cross it to get to A, often under fire from multiple angles.

A Ramp
The sloped area leading from A Cross up to the A bombsite itself. Controlling this area is key to holding A site.

A Default Plant
The default plant spot on A, located at the edge of the platform close to A Long. It offers the best visibility for Ts to defend the bomb from multiple angles.

Barrels
The barrels near the back of A Site, often used as cover during firefights or to hide from Ts pushing short.

Goose
The famous corner behind A Site marked by a spray-painted goose. It’s a common hiding spot for CTs defending A.

Elevator
This is the spot next to CT spawn where CTs can boost each other up onto the A platform during a retake.

A Platform
The large platform on A Site where the bomb is planted. It covers a broad area, but is often the center of A-side battles.

A Ninja
A hiding spot near A Short behind some boxes, used by CTs for sneaky defuses when Ts don’t fully clear the site.

Stairs
The stairs that connect Catwalk to A Short. This is a key choke point for players moving from mid to A.

Catwalk
The narrow path on the side of Mid that leads up to A Short. Holding cat is critical for any team pushing A from mid.

CT Spawn
The starting area for the CTs, located beneath Short. It connects them to both bombsites and is a central hub for rotations.
